Breede River Mirror Carp

Breede River Mirror Carp

The weather was incredible and my morning started off by catching a small catfish.  The water was calm and we only had a slight breeze.  I was sitting on the bank of the Breede River, 20km outside of Swellingdam when my rod went absolutely berserk (this was just after 12pm). I struggled for about half an hour when I realized just what had taken the bait - a large mirror karp.We could not weigh the carp as I had nothing to weigh it with but we estimated that it was around 9kg. Once we had taken the necessary photos we released this fine fish.
